A Hazare (Afghani) friend of mine who has been seeking asylum all over the world for the last decade is currently being held in detention at Villawood Detention Centre in Sydney, Australia, while the Australian govermnent processed his papers. He never committed any crime or broke any law to deserve to be locked up; he is merely seeking safety from the persecution happening in his own home country. After a long wait, he has had his refugee plea rejected and has been served with deportation papers which will force him to be sent to Kabul (a place in Afghanistan where he has never been before) against his will. Kabul is an extremely dangerous place for Hazares, but as well as this, since becoming a Christian his chances of survival if he gets deported to Kabul will be almost completely dashed. He has been told he must leave the country on November 19.
He has been moved to the maximum security section of the detention centre and he has had his mobile phone confiscated. From a man who is usually of a quiet, gentle and accommodating nature, he has become alone, frightened, and unsure of whether he will still be alive in a few weeks.
For those who say Australia is a place of justice? Sure; it is for those who were born here. But for those who have every right to seek safety from war, famine, torture and persecution here, it’s a place of corruption and fear, where often people are refused asylum and sent back to their country to face the same persecution that sent them running for their lives.
The situation for this Hazare friend of mine is now a matter of life or death. Please reblog, pass this on and plead with God for a miracle, that the decision might be reversed and his life spared.
